Our Teachers Were Wrong.
“Do you want to be a pepper seller?”
“-no,”
“-then read your books.”
Looking back at our
basic education years, the realization had struck…that most of what we were
told were lies.
We need pepper sellers, shoe cobblers, hair dressers and all
those professions that were ridiculed to make us serious.
Why didn’t they tell us that we should learn a skill before
leaving for higher education? Why didn’t our teachers tell us we would need to
learn how to eat off our earnings once we get into the uni?
We were always made to believe
being a doctor or lawyer equals being successful.
What a joke!
Can they survive without cobblers or barbers or
hairdressers? Don’t these people get their pepper from these pepper sellers and
even bargain the price more than any other person?
Dear teachers,
You guys always made us think that if we weren’t good in
school, we cannot make it in life. You wanted our heads in books always and nothing
more, you made it sound like life is all about being the best at school. And we
believed y’all because you’re older than us and have more experience.
But y’all lied! You lied!
Life is not all bout school, there is leisure. Look, some
people are good at school, and others are good in life issues, we all can’t be good
in school, so stop making the life-chasers feel bad about their career path
from an early age. These days you don’t always need a certificate to live
comfortably. Life doesn’t revolve around a classroom or a degree alone, it
revolves around what you love and your passion also.
The world is messed
up and you made it worse. No offense, but the realization has brewed anger. The
realizations that our teachers were wrong is a big rip-off.
You made those who were always top of the class gods…like
those who weren’t don’t have other things they are good at. I get it makes you
feel proud that your hard work is paying off, I know the feeling and the need
to make other kids revel the number one pupil. But still, this is life and you
made it a business environment and a classroom of lies.
There
are literally other aspects of life in which people excel abundantly. I’m not
sorry because life isn’t always about who the best is. You guys keep chasing
the fact that we should be studious and hardworking.
For crying out loud, even lazy people earn millions these
days. Don’t you see? The world is changing and you chose to remain in the past.
It’s either you learn a skill or you’re toast! People work from home now, not
because of the new orders, but because they don’t like stress.
You see those guys that would do anything to get out of
stress, they are the ones with the ideas. Sadly, you looked down on them, and
even more sad is the fact that they probably earn more than you currently do.
This is not a form of insult, no! it’s a plea for a change.
Change the way you teach and talk! We believed you more than our parents…we
trusted you…if you keep talking in that “learning a trade is stupid” manner,
more people will end up jobless in this country.
You know how the country you live is…don’t ruin our future
leaders with your tongue. Bear this in mind; a new generation is coming; they
will be sharper and more brilliant than ours…they will have more guts than
ours. They can make you realize you have a rusty mindset way more than ours
ever could.
I stand
firm on this…you guys were wrong. A lazy person can be successful if he decides
to take something serious. Being a pepper seller isn’t the end of the world. We
need hair-dressers and barbers. Being a mechanic is not so bad. Its great being
a vulcanizer, so also being a cobbler.
You know you can’t do without these people, so try to reduce
the way you talk about them in the classroom, some of those children are funded
by their parents who could be in that profession.
You were wrong about those professions and you could be
wrong about yours too.
Yours sincerely in
anger
A generation brought
up in lies.
True! During the lockdown, most of the teachers had to switch to being a petty trader to feed. Learning a skill isn't bad at all, well done Derin๐๐
